While in Venezuela, the panic and hysteria of the press and politicians for the risk of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) continued around the world.

I took a photo on  beach with a dead booby, just to ilustrate that a certain mortality of wild birds is normal, all over the world...

Once back at Duisburg I started re-writing the chapter on HPAI of the Transmissible Diseases Handbook of the EAZWV and continued to coordinate information between zoos in Germany and elsewhere.
