The Journal “Aquatic Mammals” was founded by the European Association for Aquatic Mammals (EAAM) in 1972 and therewith is the oldest scientific journal dedicated to marine mammal science.

The first ever edition of the journal was dedicated entirely to the proper transport of dolphins and was a “state-of-the-art” summary of the techniques used in the early seventies.

Today “Aquatic Mammals” is being published in cooperation with several other associations dedicated to marine mammal science.

It has “special issues” dedicated to one scientific subject.
